Since childhood, I have traveled widely and lived and studied several places in the United States and Europe. I have broad experiences and interests and a strong love for learning. I earned my bachelor's degree at Chicago's Elmhurst College, where I majored in history and philosophy and minored in English writing. I intend to continue my studies and earn a master's degree in the History of Science. I am a musician, and had the privilege of sitting second chair trombone in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony in Michigan. I have been tutoring for ten years, many of those in essay writing and private music lessons. In my free time I love reading, writing, video games, and outdoor activities including cycling, rafting, canoeing, rock climbing, and sail-boating.I am a believer in education as a valuable experience and guide in life. My hope for each student I am fortunate enough to work with is that they have the opportunity to be inspired by bright minds and beautiful places. In tutoring writing, I have found it valuable to help students find and develop their own voice. I can teach them all the rules, but the writing itself, the life of the composition, must come from them. I am available to tutor in many subjects, including physics, astronomy, American literature, persuasive writing, American history, macroeconomics, African history, and macroeconomics.
