Hobbies

Although I've spent a lot of my life studying, I've worked almost exclusively on horse farms teaching riding lessons to children and adults of all ages. I teach riding not as a sport but as a nuanced language--an exercise in translating ideas into pieces of information that student and teacher reconstruct together. I think that guiding students to conclusions and helping them build tools for problem-solving allows them to internalize information more concretely. To truly learn something and internalize it, the impulse must come from the student, and I view my task as helping to instill that curiosity.
