ExperienceI have always had a fascination with math and science. These subjects offer a never-ending list of puzzles that are just waiting to be solved by any scientist or mathematician that is willing to put in the work. My fascination in math and science is a large part of who I am and that's why I tutor. Tutoring allows me to share my passion with other people and, ultimately, make the world a better place. Additionally, when I witness that sense of accomplishment on one of my student's faces, I can't help but get excited. My tutoring experience includes 6 years of helping students with a variety of subjects, including test-prep, calculus (and a lot of other math like Pre-calculus and Trigonometry), physics, biology, and chemistry. I have personally witnessed how challenging these subjects can be for some students, but my time as a student of the scientific discipline has made me well equipped to handle the difficulty. Along the way, I have picked up many great study skills that I will pass on to the scholars that I tutor.
Through participating in a biomedical engineering curriculum, I learned to critically think about different subjects and how they relate to each other, which I use to tutor and help students understand. I also aim to instill critical thinking techniques when teaching, allowing students to move away from memorization and towards logical thinking and problem solving, which in turn helps them retain the information and score better on exams.
When tutoring I try to incorporate a comfortable and fun environment to promote learning. I feel that the more comfortable one is when learning, the more beneficial the lesson will be. I try to build my students' confidence in order for them to feel comfortable asking questions and communicating their weaknesses. In this way I try to direct my teaching to each student's learning style and learning rate. I also try to promote good organization and study techniques, which I feel are important in order to focus one's attention and provide for clearer thinking.
I am confident that my experience will be well suited for your goals. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I hope to hear from you soon and help you in your success!
HobbiesInterests: Outdoor activities, music, traveling, enjoying good company and continuously learning whenever possible.
Long term goal: I hope to move on to obtain my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering

This summer she helped my daughter with SAT prep and preparing for Pre-Calculus this school year. She did a wonderful job making my daughter comfortable and the learning easy. We look forward to working with her this school year.
Right from the start, Tricia impressed us with her professionalism and effectiveness in helping my son with Calculus. Her knowledge is exceptional and she was able to teach my son with no lost time, and get him up to speed on the concepts he needed to know. She also knew how to use technology, like an iPad and laptop, to enhance understanding and help keep my son stay interested. She was always friendly and personable, and I think this helps her connect to my son as it makes her more relatable. With Tricia's help, my son learned more than Calculus. She went above and beyond, giving my son welcomed advice on his future goals and aspirations.
From her quick response time and flexibility, to her warm, approachable tutoring style, Trish has knocked it out of the park. Not only does she know her stuff, but she can translate it into logical, comprehensible terms for my son...that's a big deal! And, as a paying customer 'm equally happy that its all business when on the clock. She gives homework, too! Love it! Thanks Tricia - we are very happy to have found you!
Very pleasant and seemed willing and eager to help. I ended up hiring someone closer to home, but Patricia was very responsive, and I would have hired her if the timing had worked out.
She has been a great find. My son has been through many tutors that haven't really worked out. Tricia is the best fit for him!
She has help my son understand the formulas and showed him how to understand the problems he has had trouble understanding , so I'm pleased with the progress made. I would recommend her to others needing help with trigonometry. Tricia has been flexible with scheduling and a great to work with.
Tricia has been a great resource for my 16 year old son. She tutored him in Chemistry last year (he ended up with an A), and is currently tutoring him in Calculus and Biology. She is supportive, encouraging, and breaks concepts down so that they can be understood. In addition to her skills as a content-area tutor, she has a great way with teenagers. She is easy going and has a good sense of humor! I highly recommend Tricia.
